Banner Health, Phoenix VA team up to provide veterans outpatient services — 6 things to know

Phoenix-based Banner Health is partnering with Phoenix VA Health Care System to provide veterans outpatient services.

Here are six things to know:

1. The partnership comes in the wake of officials investigating several VA hospitals throughout the country for failing to see patients in a timely fashion.

2. Through the partnership, the VA will move procedures from the hospital campus to the Banner's SurgiCenter, so the hospital can make room for more patients.

3. Banner Health expects to perform almost 2,500 surgeries annually at the surgery center.

4. Nearly 24 VA physicians will provide care at Banner's SurgiCenter and will work with Banner's clinical, technical and administrative staff on care delivery.

5. The surgeons will offer orthopedic, gynecological, podiatric and general surgery services.

6. Per the five-year contract, the VA will pay Banner on a case-by-case basis.
