Maggie Summerfelt is the administrator of Omaha-based Advanced Surgery Center. The physician-owned ASC has two operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Ms. Summerfelt was hired in October 2005 to manage the ASC's construction, hire staff and obtain initial state licensure and Medicare certification.
Advanced Surgery Center has a focus on orthopedics, podiatry and pain management. The center was originally partly owned by SurgCenter Development, but was bought out in October 2008. There are 12 physician owners at the center.
Ms. Summerfelt is a physical therapist by training and led the center through an increased patient volume, which was up 25 percent in 2011.
