AmSurg partner Dr. Kerry Solomon performs charity surgery for teenager with severe cataracts — 5 key notes

Kerry Solomon, MD, a partner of AmSurg, waived the fee for cataract surgery on a 15-year-old patient with severe cataracts.

1. Dr. Solomon was able to get premium lenses for the patients.

2. He practices at Physicians' Eye Surgery Center of Charleston in South Carolina.

3. Dr. Solomon said, "Hers is a very unusual case. We don't know for sure what caused her to develop cataracts at such a young age, but we do know that cataracts only get worse, not better."

4. Dr. Solomon underwent an ophthalmic pathology fellowship at University of Utah Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City.

5. Additionally, he completed his cataract and refractive surgery and corneal transplantation fellowship at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
