Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek (D-Portland) recently toured The Portland Clinic's Alberty Surgical Center in Tigard, Ore., according to The Oregonian.
Here are four highlights:
1. During her visit, the ambulatory surgery center's staff discussed the many benefits ASCs offer, such as low infection rates and patient satisfaction scores.
2. Various staff members walked Speaker Kotek through the center including:
• Margaret Dibblee, director of the Portland Clinic Surgery Centers
• Dick Clark, The Portland Clinic's CEO
• Robert Sandmeier, MD, orthopedic surgeon at The Portland Clinic
• Doug Riggs, lobbyist and president of NW Grassroots and Communication's
• Simon Schwartz, associate executive director of the Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center Association
3. In 2015, Speaker Kotek and OASCA presented Dr. Sandmeier with the 2015 Physician Leader of the Year award, which OASCA presents to an outstanding member in the surgical community.
4. Alberty Surgical Center offers foot and ankle as well as anesthesiology and pain management services.
