Advanced Surgery Institute Implants World's Smallest Heart Monitor

Regent Surgical Health's Advanced Surgery Institute in Santa Rose, Calif., and its partner Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital have become the first facilities in the California Bay Area to implant Medtronic's Reveal LINQ Insertable Cardiac Monitor.

The device, roughly the third of the size of an AAA battery, is the world's smallest cardiac monitoring device. The insertion procedure requires 10 minutes, local anesthetic and a 1 cm incision.
