A snapshot of which presidential candidate physicians prefer — 4 takeaways

MedPage Today's recent surveys indicate physicians will likely vote for Hillary Clinton for our nation's next presidential candidate.

Here are four takeaways:

1. In MedPage Today's survey in April, 36 percent of respondents reported they would vote for Ms. Clinton.

2. Twenty-three percent of physician respondents reported they would vote for Donald Trump in the April survey.

3. Twenty-seven percent of respondents opted for Bernie Sanders in the April survey, with 12 percent choosing Ben Carson, MD.

4. Of MedPage Today's surveys in the last few years, only one showed a preference for a Republican candidate. In an October 2015 survey, 48 percent of respondents reported they would vote for Mitt Romney, with 46 percent saying they would vote for President Barack Obama.
