Central Piedmont Surgery Center in Asheboro, N.C., initially a joint venture, has been completely acquired by its partner Randolph Hospital. The two-operating room surgery center will now operate as a hospital outpatient department.

Joint Commission announces 2015 patient safety goals.
The Joint Commission released its 2015 national patient safety goals for ambulatory organizations, effective Jan. 1, 2015. The goals include identifying patients correctly, using medications safely, preventing infection and preventing mistakes in safety.

AORN to update local anesthesia care guidelines.

Laser Spine Institute opens Cleveland location.
Tampa, Fla.-based Laser Spine Institute opened its new facility in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Laser Spine Institute hired orthopedic spine surgeon, Jeffrey F. Employer healthcare costs to rise 5.5%.
Worker premiums and out-of-pocket costs have doubled since 2009 and continue to rise. Annual employer healthcare costs will rise 5.5 percent in 2015 from $10,717 to $11,304, the highest percentage rate increase since 2011 when employer costs rose 8.5 percent.
