7 things for ASC leaders to know for Monday

Here are seven recent news updates for ambulatory surgery center leaders to know for Nov. 17, 2014.

SCA revenue rises 13.1%.
Surgical Care Affiliates announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2014. SCA's total net operating revenue, excluding facilities in which the company owns a non-controlling interest, increased 13.1 percent, from $194.4 million in the third quarter of 2013 to $219.9 million. Net operating revenue including all facilities in which the company owns an interest rose 10.5 percent from the same period last year.

Rhode Island to make payer claims database public.
Rhode Island is scheduled to launch its all-payer claims database to the public this year. Six years ago the state's legislature mandated the creation of such a database, and now new funding is helping bring that database to the public. The Rhode Island Department of Health is contracting with Arcadia Healthcare Solutions, OnPoint Health Data and 3M Health Information Systems to aggregate and present the data, according to the report.

Glendale Adventist opens JV ASC.
Glendale (Calif.) Adventist Medical Center has reopened the Physicians Adventist Surgery Center as a joint venture, with local physicians as stakeholders and ASD Management as the managing company. The center was first opened in 2008 as the Ambulatory Surgical Center.

ICD-10 expected to cost less than previously predicted.
The cost of the ICD-10 transition for small physician practices has been estimated at $105,506 to $22,560, but new data suggests these numbers are much higher than the true cost. A Journal of AHIMA study projects that the ICD-10 transition for small practices will actually cost anywhere from $1,960 to $5,900.

Nebraska Medical Center could receive its 3rd Ebola patient.
The Nebraska Medical Center is expected to receive its third Ebola patient, as teams prepare to airlift a physician from Sierra Leone to the Omaha-based hospital. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.

DISC opens ASC.
Desert Institute of Spine Care in Las Vegas expanded with the opening of a new ambulatory surgery center. The ASC, Minimally Invasive Spine Institute, is located adjacent to the DISC office. The surgery center is 5,000 square feet. It has hosted more than 200 cases since opening.

More nurse join strikes for Global Ebola Awareness Day.
Nurses across the country are holding strikes, vigils and pickets outside of hospitals, and rallies at federal offices are being held in several states during what has been dubbed Global Ebola Awareness Day. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.
