Healthcare M&A spending rises 152% in Q2.
Healthcare merger and acquisition spending rose to $135.2 billion in the second quarter of this year, a 152 percent increase from the same period in 2013. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.

ASCA completes office renovation.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association cut the ribbon on its newly-renovated office in Alexandria, Va. ASCA past president Nap Gary, current president Terry Bohlke and CEO Bill Prentice joined staff at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

AmSurg completes Sheridan acquisition.
AmSurg announced in May intent to acquire anesthesia provider Sheridan for $2.35 billion. Now, the company has officially completed the transaction.

Mercy Medical Center, USPI acquire ownership in Siouxland Surgery Center.
Mercy Medical Center Sioux City and United Surgical Partners International have partnered to acquire a majority interest in Siouxland Surgery Center in Dakota Dunes (S.D.). The new partnership is designed to meet the needs of a growing community.

Davis Surgery Center, UC Davis Medical Center enter affiliation agreement.
Davis Surgery Center, affiliated with AmSurg, has created an an affiliation agreement that allows UC Davis orthopedic surgeons to perform cases at the surgery center. The affiliation was made in an effort to relieve pressure in the busy UC Davis operating rooms.

Covenant Surgical Partners, ASCpro sign agreement.
Under the newly formed agreement, ASCpro will provide Covenant Surgical Partners ASCs with a compliance document management application with multiple modules. Administrators will be able to use the application to track where their ASC stands in meeting regulatory compliance.  

EmployerDirect promotes Joni Guerrero to VP of operations.
EmployerDirect, a company focused on connecting self-insured employers with quality providers, promoted Joni Guerrero to Vice President of Operations. Ms. Guerrero has more than 20 years of management experience.
