Here are seven news updates for ambulatory surgery center industry leaders to know for August 4, 2014.

AmSurg reports Q2 financial results.
AmSurg revenues rose to $281.1 million, up 5 percent from $267.1 million in the second quarter of 2013. Net earnings attributable to common shareholders were $19 million, or $0.59 per diluted share, up from $18.4 million, or $0.58 per diluted share, in the same period last year.

HHS officially sets ICD-10 switch at Oct. 1, 2015.
A final rule from HHS has officially confirmed Oct. 1, 2015 will be the compliance deadline for U.S. healthcare providers to begin using the ICD-10 coding system. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.

4,000+ healthcare providers to take on bundled payments.
CMS has announced 4,122 providers will be added to phase 1 — the exploratory, non-risk bearing stage — of the Medicare Bundled Payments for Care Improvement initiative, joining the 2,412 providers already participating. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.

Maine enacts 2 price transparency laws.
Last week, two new state laws that aim to inject transparency and drive consumerism in healthcare will take effect in Maine. One law will require hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to provide the average charge for any service or procedure on request. A second law will require healthcare providers to gather a list of their most common procedures, anything performed more than 50 times a year and the price set for uninsured patients.

Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center first Northwestern ASC to perform total hip replacement.
Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center in Tigard became the first ambulatory surgery center in the Northwest to perform outpatient total hip replacement. The first total hip replacement procedure at the center was performed by orthopedic surgeon James Ballard, MD, on May 8. The same patient, a 54-year old man, had his second hip replaced at the center on June 19.

La Peer Health Systems adds 2 gastroenterologists.
La Peer Health Systems, a Beverly Hills, Calif.-based outpatient surgery center, has added gastroenterologists Benjamin Basseri, MD, and Marc Makhani, MD, to its team. La Peer Health Systems includes more than 50 physicians in 14 specialties.

Dr. Glenn Campbell to open single-specialty eye surgery center in Virginia.
Glenn C. Campbell, MD, an ophthalmologist with Advanced Vision Institute in Williamsburg, Va., will break ground on a single-specialty ophthalmology-driven ambulatory surgery center this summer. The ASC will be the first in the district to focus solely on ophthalmic care.
