6 notes on primary care physicians' outlook on healthcare technology

"Digital Doctor" is a study looking at the attitudes of primary care physicians about healthcare technologies, according to News-Medical.

Here are six notes:

1. The majority of primary care physicians are concerned about new health technologies with only 25 percent seeing a role for healthcare apps in the treatment of patients.

2. A mere one-in-five participants across Germany, France and UK think health and lifestyle apps are a fad. Seventy-two percent have already used or recommended at least one form of digital health technology.

3. Those physicians who reported healthcare technology could be useful stated it would be best used to monitor chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and respiratory conditions.

4. The main concern voiced by primary care physicians was reliability. Fifteen percent of respondents do not think the apps are a reliable way of monitoring health.

5. A reported 17 percent stated they do not think the apps will not provide easier access to healthcare.

6. Sixty-six percent stated patients could misinterpret data.
