5 key points on Greenway Surgery Center's Dr. Lance Silverman; 1 of the first in Minnesota to perform synthetic cartilage joint replacements on toe

Orthopedic surgeon Lance Silverman, MD, was among the first surgeons in Minnesota to perform synthetic cartilage joint replacements on a patient's big toe, according to Sun Current.

Here are five key points on Dr. Silverman:

1. He started his private practice in Edina, Minn., in 2005, with the practice since expanding to multiple locations including Minneapolis-based Greenway Surgery Center.

2. At the surgery center, Dr. Silverman specializes in ankle and foot surgery.

3. Dr. Silverman referred to the synthetic replacement procedure as a "game changer," which has gained momentum since he performed the surgery years ago.

4. He earned his medical degree from Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine.

5. Following medical school, Dr. Silverman completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Detroit-based Henry Ford Hospital. He underwent a foot and ankle surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
