4 innovations changing healthcare delivery

Patients will continue to demand quick and efficient healthcare, and often, may demand healthcare is available at their fingertips, according to Customer Think.

Here are four innovations shaping healthcare delivery.

1. Telemedicine. By 2016, telemedicine-dedicated devices and software markets are expected to reach $2.5 billion. Different apps are flooding the industry, giving patients the capability to obtain medical opinions right from their homes.

2. Concierge medicine. Patients can now receive same-day appointments and schedule their appointments easily online. Primary care is working to make patients healthier and align patient goals with providers' goals.

3. Physician ratings. Earlier this week, UnitedHealthcare announced it would post HealthGrades' patient satisfaction scores for each physician. While controversial, many patients seek second opinions via these ratings before choosing a provider.

4. Big data. Health systems are gathering a tremendous amount of data to improve care. CMS is also requiring providers to report more data, or face hefty fines. Data is the way of the future, and the trick will be using that data to effect actual change.
