1st US laparoscopic cholecystectomy using FMX314 completed at UC San Diego Health: 3 notes

The first successful laparoscopic cholecystectomy using FMX314 in the United States has been completed.

Here's what you need to know:

1. FMX314, developed by Fortimedix Surgical, is the first single-port surgery solution for minimally invasive abdominal laparoscopic surgery.

2. The procedure was performed by Santiago Horgan, MD, chief of minimally invasive surgery at UC San Diego Health.

3. FMX314 received 510(k) clearance from the FDA last August and received CE Mark approval earlier this month.

Fortimedix Surgical is slated for the United States launch of FMX314 during the American College of Surgeons' annual congress, which takes place October 16 to 20.
