St. John’s Hospital is interested in acquiring the 6,888-square foot Prairie Surigcenter in Springfield, Ill., for $8.5 million, according to a report by The State Journal-Register.

Sandra Yeh, MD, board-certified ophthalmologist, opened the $3 million surgery center three years ago. The potential acquisition would not include the Prairie Eye and Lasik Center, the practice of which Dr. Yeh is a part owner.

The transaction is pending approval by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board. The board intends to discuss the proposed sale during a Jan. 28, 2014 meeting.
