Proposed Virginia Surgery Center Hits CON Hurdle
A proposal by Centra Ambulatory Surgery to build an ASC in Danville, Vir., is facing an uphill battle after the state's Division of Certificate of Public Need recommended denying Centra's CON request, according to the Danville Register & Bee.
Lynchburg, Va.-based Centra announced the $6.6 million project last year, which includes a two-operating room ASC, along with diagnostic imaging and a 24-hour emergency department, according to a report from The News & Advance on the Centra surgery center.
Despite the recommendation against the CON, Centra is soliciting support for the project from local residents in preparation for a June 8 hearing on the facility, according to the Register & Bee report.
