Physicians Endoscopy acquires PGC Endoscopy Center of Excellence: 4 things to know

Physicians Endoscopy has acquired a stake in the Philadelphia Gastroenterology Consultants Endoscopy Center of Excellence. Here are four things to know about the transaction.

1. Physicians Endoscopy acquired a majority interest in the PGC Endoscopy Center of Excellence. The center is Physician Endoscopy's 34th. The joint venture relationship was finalized on Jan. 31.

2. "We built and grew our endoscopy center from the ground up almost eight years ago. Quality and personalized patient care are key components of our mission. PE is a natural partner inasmuch as it is headquartered locally, has both local and national experience, and shares our core values," said Mark S. Tanker, DO.

3. The endoscopy center has two rooms and performs more than 4,500 procedures each year. The center opened in 2007.

4. "PE is thrilled to be in partnership with this premier group of GI physicians in the Philadelphia market.  We all worked hard over the past year to develop the right relationship between our organizations. I believe together we can accomplish great things. As the future of healthcare continues to unfold, we are aligned to navigate the many complexities together," said Carol Stopa, vice president of business development with Physicians Endoscopy.
