The Oklahoma State Department of Health implemented new standards for building requirements applicable to ASCs and hospitals, according to News on 6.
Here are four notes:
1. The health department set the standards to meet current national Medicaid and Medicare safety code guidelines.
2. OSDH worked alongside the Oklahoma Ambulatory Surgery Center Association and Oklahoma Hospital Association on the updates. The department also consulted various experts in law, engineering, architecture and product management.
3. The department proposed revised recruitments for building stages one and two as well as special construction plan submissions. The proposal would give ASCs the option to bypass stage one and move to stage two submittal. For more on the updates, click here.
4. The rules will go into effect Oct. 1.
