Nobilis acquires Texas ASC; expands into Houston market — 5 key takeaways

Nobilis Health acquired an ambulatory surgery center in Dickinson, Texas, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Here are five key takeaways:

1. Nobilis plans to convert the ASC into a hospital outpatient department out of its Bellaire (Texas) Surgical Hospital.

2. The surgery center is 8,397 square feet.

3. The facility houses two operating suites, four pre-operative beds and four recovery beds.

4. Through the ASC acquisition, Nobilis can expand its presence in the southeast Houston area. The deal includes:
•    Facility location's lease
•    Acquisition of necessary medical equipment and inventory for a nominal purchase price
•    Transfer of the ASC license
•    Execution of a campus management agreement through which Nobilis will manage the outpatient department

5. Currently, Nobilis operates five other facilities in the Greater Houston Metropolitan.

"This expansion taps into our ability to drive volume and revenue from our sales and marketing division, as seen from the success we've had in the Dallas, Plano, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Houston areas," said Kenneth Efird, president, Nobilis. "By adding this ASC we will be able to serve new patients and new physicians who are currently outside the reach of our existing Houston locations."
