New Michigan ASC Announced for Monroe Township

Work has begun on a new surgery center in Monroe Township, Mich., which is expected to open in March 2011, according to a report by The Monroe Evening News.

The ASC, Surgical Institute of Monroe, will be part of a $6 million complex that will include four ORs, physician offices and ancillary services.

Up to 16 physicians will affiliate with the new, 13,500-square-foot surgery center, which will offer specialties including urology, ENT, orthopedics, pain management, podiatry, gynecology and ophthalmology, according to the report.

The surgery center is being created by Smithfield Medical Development, a California firm which partnered with local physicians and received the certificate of need for the facility.
