Missouri Surgery Center to Convert Into Inpatient Hospital

The Surgery Center of Poplar Bluff (Mo.) is currently undergoing renovations which will convert it into an inpatient hospital, according to reports from KFVS12 and the surgery center's owner, Poplar Bluff Medical Partners.

Poplar Bluff Medical Partners is renovating its ambulatory surgery center and converting it into a three-bed inpatient short-stay monitoring hospital, which will be called The Black River Community Medical Center.

The new hospital will partner with Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, according to the KFVS12 report. It will initially provide care for conditions including diabetes, hypertension, simple pneumonia and dehydration.

The new hospital is planning to open by year's end, with plans for it to then expand to 100-150 beds.
