Earlier this week, Athens Planning Commission reviewed Athens-Limestone Hospital plans for a surgery center in Alabama, according to The News Courier.

1. The surgery center is equipped with six operating rooms.

2. The 70,000-square-foot center costs $30 million.

3. Athens-Limestone Hospital's center would also include a medical office building and physician offices.

4. The commission review was required as the hospital is building the facility in a general business district, which raises questions about traffic flow and center accessibility.

5. Public Works Director James Rich advised the hospital to submit a traffic impact study to the city, which the Alabama Department of Transpiration would review.
