CHOP to open $65M facility, that includes ASC: 5 things to know

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will open its $65 million specialty medical building, including an ambulatory surgery center, in King of Prussia, Pa., on May 18, according to a Philadelphia Business Journal report.

Here are five things to know:

1. The 135,000-square-foot building is a replacement facility for two existing CHOP health center buildings nearby.

2. The building will serve as a one-stop shop for patients who need outpatient or urgent care, according to Theodore Ganley, MD, director of CHOP’s sports medicine program.

3. The facility is expected to perform approximately 1,600 cases per year.

4. It will house physicians in a number of specialties, such as cardiology, audiology, gastroenterology, hematology and oncology.

5. In addition to a two-operating room surgery center and urgent care center, the facility will house imaging equipment, 68 exam rooms and a day hospital for cancer patients.
