Centra's opening of $13M medical center in Lynchburg — 8 notes

Centra is opening a medical center in Lynchburg, Va., estimated to cost $13 million, according to the News & Advance.

Here are eight notes:

1. The 46,500-square-foot center is part of Centra's larger ambulatory strategy aimed to move healthcare services closer to patients.

2. Services offered at the center include primary care, diabetic endocrinology and physical therapy.

3. The center seeks to decrease readmissions and redundant testing while lowering cost and enhancing patient outcomes.

4. David Adams, senior vice president and chief strategy officer for Centra, explained the ambulatory strategy offers care centered on population health.

5. The center in Lynchburg presently has seven physicians, two physician assistants, one nurse practitioner and three physical therapists.

6. Centra is anticipated to open a $9.2 million ambulatory center in Amherst, Va.

7. Additionally, Centra will open a $14 million ambulatory care center in Danville, Va., in November.

8. Centra has secured $96.3 million in bond financing for its recent projects.
