Big Creek Surgery Center partners with MetroHealth: 6 things to know

MetroHealth is partnering with Big Creek Surgery Center to expand its presence in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, according to a Crain's Cleveland Business report.

Here are five key notes:

1. MetroHealth is leasing 18,000 square feet of space in Middleburg Heights and Big Creek's clinical staff will become MetroHealth employees.

2. Independent physicians will continue to have the ability to perform surgical procedures at Big Creek Surgery Center.

3. Big Creek's administrative staff won't be MetroHealth employees. They will continue to manage the facility and the independent physician group will share their management and operating expertise.

4. The collaboration is expected to begin in 2016.

5. Services moved to Big Creek Surgery Center could include endoscopy, otolaryngology, general surgery and plastic surgery.

6. Big creek sold minority stake of the center to Southwest General in 2012, a MetroHealth competitor. Southwest General maintains stake in the venture and signed off on the deal, expecting to earn a return on investment in the deal.
