Aurora Healthcare plans $81M surgery center, MOB: 4 things to know

Aurora Healthcare, based in Milwaukee, plans to build an $81.3 million surgery center and medical office building in Sheboygan, Wis., according to a Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel report. Here are four things to know about the project.

1. The new medical facility will be constructed on land the health system is acquiring for the Sheboygan Area School District. The $81.3 million price tag for the project includes the purchase of the land.

2. Approximately 65 percent of Aurora Healthcare's Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center's procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, according to the report. The new MOB and surgery center is designed to take on many of these procedures and allow for greater capacity at the hospital.

3. The project is expected to create $200,000 in annual property taxes, according to the report.

4. As a part of the project, the health system will donate $5.1 million for the construction of athletic facilities and fields in the area.
