Athens-Limestone Hospital proposes $35M surgery center: 5 things to know

Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala., has proposed a $35 million surgery center, according to a report by The News Courier. Here are five things to know.

1. A new, 11,600-square-foot medical office building will be located on the hospital's east campus.

2. The hospital filed a certificate of need to move its surgery center, imaging, pharmacy and laboratory services to the medical office building.

3. The surgery center would house four operating rooms and two rooms that could be used for either surgery or procedural cases, according to the report.

4. The CON has yet to be approved, but hospital officials are aiming to open the new facility in 2017.

5. David Pryor, CEO of the hospital, announced new orthopedic, ENT and general surgeons have been recruited for the facility, according to the report.
