86 new outpatient surgery centers in 2016

Here are the new outpatient surgery centers and ASCs opened or announced over the past year.

Great Lakes Surgery Center, an ophthalmology-driven surgery center, opened this year in St. Joseph, Mich.

Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston plans to open a new $150,000 ASC.

The New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council gave New York City-based Manhattan Endoscopy Center approval for permanent licensure.

The Polyclinic in Seattle and Swedish Medical Center opened First Hill Surgery Center.

Rush University Medical Center and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago received approval to construct a new $21 million medical facility that includes an ASC.

Brownwood, Texas-based Hendrick Surgery Center plans to open in the spring of 2017.

Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Health System opened a $20 million endoscopy and radiology center.

The New Lenox (Ill.) Village Board gave Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox approval to build its ASC.

Monterey (Calif.) Peninsula Surgery Centers opened Minimus Institute in Monterey.

Richmond, Va.-based Medarva Healthcare received a certificate of public need to create a multispecialty outpatient surgery center.

McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah opened the new McKay Dee Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Center.

Resurgens Orthopaedics in Atlanta opened its seventh surgery center in Covington, Ga.

Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health broke ground on a new $6.2 million ASC that will include orthopedics, ENT, neurosurgery and podiatry.

Optim Orthopedics opened a new ASC in Savannah, Ga.

Georgia Ophthalmologists opened a new 8,000-square-foot ASC in Covington.

The Athens (Ala.) Planning Commission approved the preliminary plans for Athens-Limestone Hospital to construct a new 77,000-square-foot surgery center that would include six operating rooms.

Daytona Children's is opening a new specialty care center that includes an outpatient surgery center in Miamisburg, Ohio.

Arkansas Urology is planning to build a $6 million outpatient center in Little Rock.

Yale-New Haven Health completed a new medical center that includes an ASC in Trumbull, Conn.

Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles is building an outpatient center equipped with an ASC in Pasadena, Calif.

The LASIK Vision Institute opened an ASC in Lubbock, Texas.

The Gastroenterology Group of Northern New Jersey partnered with Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and Physicians Endoscopy to open the Northern New Jersey Center for Advanced Endoscopy in Englewood Cliffs.

The Retina Center of Ohio opened in Euclid.

TriHealth in Cincinnati is building a new outpatient surgery center in Anderson Township, Ohio that will be complete in 2017 and include general surgery, endoscopy, orthopedics, ENT, podiatry, facial plastics and vein surgeries.

Craig Amshel, MD, is building a new ASC in Florida that will include pain management, orthopedics, plastic surgery and colonoscopy.

Middletown, N.Y.-based Orange Regional Medical Center is planning to open a new cancer center and outpatient building with an ASC in Wallkill, N.Y.

Novant Health received a certificate of need for a $9.8 million ASC in Kernersville, N.C., that is expected to be operational in April 2018.

Wilmington, Del.-based Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children opened a new pediatric office which includes an ASC.

Aurora Health Care opened the Germantown (Wis.) Health Center, which includes an ASC that has six operating rooms.

Affiliated Community Medical Centers and Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minn., are building a new surgery center. The Willmar Surgery Center will replace an existing facility and cost nearly $11 million.

Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Health Network plans to open the Lake Country Surgery Center in September, which will focus on orthopedic surgery.

HealthEast in Maplewood, Minn., broke ground on a new facility that will include a surgery center.

Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin opened a new surgery center in Pewaukee along with a comprehensive orthopedic clinic, MRI and physical therapy suite.

Irving, Texas-based Healthcare Associates is opening a new medical office building that will include an ASC.

Hampden Township, Pa.-based West Shore Pain and Spine Institute plans to open in late 2016.

Cleveland-based MetroHealth announced plans to open the Brecksville (Ohio) Health & Surgery Center. The ASC is scheduled to open early next year.

Bryan Health in Lincoln, Neb., broke ground on a $25 million ASC and physician office building that will include orthopedics, podiatry, gynecology, dental, plastics and general surgery.

Regent Surgical Health is developing the first ASC in the Northwest region dedicated to specifically performing total joint replacements and treating spine disorders along with Beaverton, Ore.-based West End Surgical Center ASC's physician affiliates.

The Bienville Orthopedic Specialists Medical Park at East Lake in Biloxi, Miss., opened and includes a new ASC that is nearly 8,500 square feet.

Upstate Spine & Neurosurgery Center and Orthopaedic Associates in Spartanburg, S.C., merged to open a physician-owned ASC which is expected to cost $7.2 million and open in spring 2018.

Beloit (Wis.) Health System made a $15.27 million investment in an ASC at its NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus in Roscoe, Ill. The ASC is expected to begin taking patients in about 10 months.

Redlands (Calif.) Community Hospital is planning a new 8,530-square-foot ASC that is expected to complete construction next year.

Central Indiana Orthopedics in Munchie is planning a new medical campus with an outpatient surgery center.

Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health opened Southtowns Surgery Center, which cost $2.7 million.

University of Colorado Health in Aurora began construction on a hospital and ASC in Longmont, Colo.

Physicians Endoscopy partnered with Gastroenterology Consultants of Augusta physicians to open the Augusta Endoscopy Center in Evans, Ga.

A group of physicians in Newark, N.J., partnered with Frontier Healthcare Partners to open Mulberry Ambulatory Surgical Center.

OhioHealth plans to open a 40,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center along with other facilities in Grove City within the next few years; the ASC is scheduled to open next year.

Easton, Pa.-based St. Luke's Hospital approved a financing agreement with Northampton County Council to build an ambulatory surgery center at its Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township.

Hendrick Health System broke ground on a $5.2 million ASC in Brownwood, Texas. The center is expected to open in March 2017.

Georgia Eye Institute opened its second ASC — Glennville (Ga.) Eye Surgery Center.

Katy (Texas) Surgery Center opened in June, with plastic surgeon Leo Lapuerta, MD, offering services.

The Orthopaedic Institute for Children in Los Angeles cut the ribbon for its new ambulatory surgery center with two operating rooms and six pre- and postsurgical suites.

University of Florida Health in Gainesville opened an $11 million pediatric outpatient surgical center.

A group of surgeons in Georgia opened Albany Surgical, an outpatient surgery center.

San Jose, Calif.-based Tri-County Vascular Center opened a 5,800-square-foot ASC.

Stamford (Conn.) ASC, affiliated with the surgeons from Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Specialists, opened and is now treating orthopedic, neurosurgery and interventional pain patients.

Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network dedicated a new pediatric ambulatory surgery center, the J.B. and Kathleen Reilly Children's Surgery Center.

Roscoe, Ill.-based Northpointe Health and Wellness is building a multi-million dollar expansion including a new ambulatory surgery and treatment center.

The state of New York gave John R. Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo approval for an ASC, and construction on the $18.1 million facility is underway.

A new outpatient center constructed by Noblesville, Ind.-based Riverview Health will include an ambulatory surgery center with urgent care, physical therapy, rehabilitation and an outpatient pharmacy.

East Coast Surgery Center in Daytona, Fla., received a building permit to construct a $3.56 million center.

Bowling Green, Ky.-based TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital is building a new surgery center in Warren County which will be called Southern Kentucky Surgicenter and cost around $9.1 million.

An ambulatory surgery center will be featured in a new 280,000-square-foot facility at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. The project is expected to cost $230 million for the ambulatory care pavilion.

National Spine & Pain Center opened a new pain management center in Charlottesville, Va.

Key-Whitman Eye Center moved into a new facility in North Dallas to accommodate a larger surgical volume.

Flagler Investment Healthcare announced plans to build a new ASC in Palm Beach County in Florida. Orthopedic Center of Palm Beach County, based in Lake Worth, Fla., will run the center.

Tidelands Health, based in Murrells Inlet, S.C., plans to open a new surgery center at Tidelands Georgetown (S.C.) Memorial Hospital.

The University of Minnesota Health based in Minneapolis plans to open a new 342,000-square-foot facility: the Health Clinics and Surgery Center with 10 operating rooms and 37 different specialties.

Doctors Hospital of Manteca (Calif.) opened a new $7 million ambulatory surgery center with three operating rooms, one dedicated to cataract surgery.

Robert Zehr, MD, and Kurtis Biggs, DO, partnered with SurgCenter Development to open the Seaside Surgery Center in Naples, Fla.

Surgical Center of Greensboro (N.C.) and Orthopaedic Surgical Center, which have been operating in two separate buildings, partnered to open a new 60,000 square foot facility that will include 13 operating rooms and two procedure rooms. The project is expected to cost $23 million to $25 million.

Northwest Community Healthcare plans to open an ASC in Arlington Heights, Ill., that will provide colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures. The project is expected to cost around $2.8 million.

OMNI Surgery Center officially opened in Utica, N.Y., to perform interventional pain management procedures. Private investment funded the $6 million facility.

Island Eye Surgicenter in Carle Place, N.Y., broke ground on a new outpatient facility that will include six operating rooms and 15 patient areas.

NeuroSpine Institute opened an ASC in Park City, Utah. Robert Masson, MD, and Ken Yonemura, MD, will perform minimally invasive spine cases at the center.

Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital opened an $83 million surgery center expansion that includes endoscopy suites and a hybrid operating room.

Compass Surgical Partners joined with Select Physicians Alliance physicians to develop and manage a new Tampa, Fla.-based ASC.

St. Luke's, based in Boise, Idaho, began construction on a new outpatient surgery center expected to cost $16.5 million and open later this year.

Fayetteville (N.C.) VA Medical Center plans to open a new outpatient center that will include an ASC.
