13 hospitals, health systems planning or opening ASCs — March 10, 2015

Here are 13 hospitals and health systems that have opened or are announced plans to open ambulatory surgery centers within the past month.

Raritan Bay Medical Center plans to open its Medical and Surgical Pavilion in Old Bridge, N.J., which will house The Surgery Center at Old Bridge.

Goshen Ambulatory Care Center was purchased by Indiana University Health Goshen Hospital, who will make upgrades to the center which will be closed until late summer.

As part of LifeBridge Health's acquisition of Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Md., LifeBridge plans to invest $250 million in upgrades to the hospital, including a neonatal care unit and an ambulatory care center.

The Christ Hospital, based in Cincinnati, opened $50 million outpatient center in Montgomery, Ohio, on April 6.

Children's Health System of Texas in Dallas partnered with James Andrews, MD, to establish an orthopedic and sports medicine clinic for student athletes and build an ambulatory surgery center in Plano, Texas.

Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Ark., broke ground on a new campus and the third phase of the project focuses on the addition of an outpatient surgery center.

Erlanger Health System, based in Chattanooga, Tenn., is planning a $70 million expansion project, which includes $11.5 million for a women's and children's ambulatory center.

Morton Plant Hospital is working on a $200 million expansion that will include a surgical center.

UMass Memorial Health Care, based in Worchester, Mass., and Shields Health Care Group, based in Quincy, Mass., plan to open a 40,000-square-foot, freestanding ambulatory surgery center in Shrewsbury, Mass.

Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital and Florida Hospital in Orlando created the jointly owned non-profit company West Florida Health, which will begin construction on a 100,000-square-foot clinic this year in Tampa that includes an ASC.

UCF College of Medicine and Florida Hospital, both in Orlando, have partnered to offer a number of services in Lake Nona, Fla., including eventually opening an ASC.
