Kinetic Concepts to Sell Therapeutic Support Systems Business to Getinge AB for $275M

Kinetic Concepts, has announced it has agreed to sell its Therapeutic Support Systems business to Getinge AB for $275 million, according to a news release.

 

 

The Therapeutic Support Systems portfolio includes specialty therapeutic beds, mattress replacement systems and other support surfaces and patient mobility devices for the therapeutic wound care, bariatric and critical care settings.

 

Kinetic Concepts develops, manufactures and markets therapies and products for the wound care and therapeutic support system markets.

 

Getinge AB is a Swedish-based group of companies providing solutions in multiple business areas: infection control (as Getinge), extended care (as ArjoHuntleigh) and medical systems (as Maquet).

 

"Strategically, the sale of the Therapeutic Support Systems business is important for KCI as it will enable us to focus even further on core growth, execution and realization of our vision — providing transformational healing solutions to caregivers and patients around the world," said Joe Woody, president and CEO for Kinetic Concepts, in the release. "Getinge has an established history of acquiring and growing proven leaders in the healthcare industry such as Therapeutic Support Systems and will continue to drive that portfolio for the benefit of customers and patients."

 

The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2012.

 

Kinetic Concepts is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
