Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot cleans up Miami's Nicklaus Children's Hospital: 6 points

Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami acquired a Xenex germ-zapping robot.

Here are six points:

1. The Xenex germ-zapping robot is among the most advanced disinfection technology currently.

2. The robot will further improve patient safety, sweeping operating rooms after hospital staff has already adequately cleaned.

3. Nicklaus is the first children's hospital in South Florida to receive this robot. About 300 hospitals nationwide already use the robot.

4. The robot has the capability to destroy contagious superbugs in operating rooms in minutes.

5. Using pulsed xenon ultraviolet light that far surpasses the intensity of sunlight, the robot can kill superbugs like Clostridium, MRSA, influenza and Ebola.

6. The robot does not leave behind chemical residue.

"At Nicklaus Children's Hospital, patient safety is of utmost priority," said Jackie Gonzalez, DNP, ARNP, MBA, NEA-BC, FAAN, senior vice president, chief nursing officer and patient safety officer. "The robot is a testament to our ongoing commitment to using the latest technology to support our infection prevention protocols."
