WHO: Ebola vaccination trials to begin in Guinea

The World Health Organization will begin to conduct trials of the Ebola vaccination in Guinea this week, according to a UN News Centre report.

"There has been massive mobilization on the part of the affected countries and all partners to accelerate the development and availability of proven interventions. If a vaccine is found effective, it will be the first preventive tool against Ebola in history," said WHO Director-General Margaret Chan, MD, according to the report.

The vaccination efforts will begin in Basse Guinée, the area with the highest number of cases in the country.
