After a review from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, White Rose Surgical Associates in York, Pa., has notified 1,100 patients of possible infection risk, according to a York Dispatch report.
White Rose, a surgical center providing a full range of services, sent letters to about 3 percent of its patient base, warning them they could be at risk for bloodborne infections. The center also provided information on how to receive free testing, according to the report.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health notified the center of two main areas of concern for its infection control practices: possible contamination of a scope used during a flexible sigmoidoscopy test and vials of local anesthetic, according to the report. Those processes are now up to standard.
