The Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention: Interprofessional Collaborative Practice program accepted the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. The college will receive $1.2 million to start an interporfessional rounding initiative at UC Health's University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to University of Cincinnati HealthNews.
Here are five notes:
1. The NEPQR-IPCP is within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and aims to advance the nursing industry.
2. The program will "enhance nursing education, improve the quality of patient care, increase nurse retention and strengthen the nursing workforce."
3. Denise Gormley, RN, PhD, assistant professor and executive director of graduate programs at the UC College of Nursing, will be the project director.
4. Leadership training for bedside nurses has already begun and the program will implement an iPad app for use with medically complex surgical patients.
5. Nurses, physicians, pharmacists, discharge planners, social workers and other healthcare professionals will collaborate in this program to increase patient satisfaction.
