Top 10 states with the highest HIV diagnoses rates

The South had the highest rate of HIV diagnoses in 2014 per 100,000 people with an average of 18.5 cases, according to CDC data.

Here are the top states, including Washington, D.C.,  with the highest HIV diagnoses per 100,000 people.

1. Washington, D.C. — 66.9
2. Louisiana — 36.6
3. Florida — 31.3
4. Maryland — 27.7
5. Georgia — 27
6. New York — 22.8
7. Texas — 22.1
8. Mississippi — 21
9. South Carolina — 20.7
10. New Jersey — 20.4
