There is little evidence showing a correlation between electronic interventions for medication management and the risk of adverse events or patient harm in ambulatory surgery centers, according to a study published in BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making.
Researchers used databases to find studies and systematic reviews on implementing electronic interventions for medication management. They found very few studies and reviews included reports on patient harm or monitored for adverse results in their outcomes.
The authors suggest more research is needed to see the full scope of negative outcomes electronic interventions could possibly present.
