State of Minnesota to use 3M data analytics, aim to improve healthcare quality & value: 4 key notes

The Minnesota Department of Human Services selected 3M Health Information Systems as its analytics contractor to support Minnesota's Integrated Health Partnership demonstration, a new initiative aimed to test new approaches to healthcare delivery and payment.

Here are four key notes:

1. There are 16 healthcare organizations participating in IHP, with about 204,000 Minnesotans enrolled in Medical Assistance.

2. The Minnesota project is part of a $45 million State Innovation Model cooperative agreement, awarded to the Minnesota Departments of Human Services in 2013 by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.

3. 3M Health Information Systems will provide data management, analysis and data access and reporting resources.

4. The SIM model tests ways to lower costs of caring for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries while also aiming to improve quality of care.

"Minnesota's participation in the SIM program is the latest example of the state's pioneering efforts to transform healthcare," said William Kelly, Senior Vice President, Population and Payment Solutions for 3M Health Information Systems. "We look forward to supporting the state's efforts with advanced analytic tools and meaningful data that can be used to encourage preventive care and reward healthy outcomes."
