Physicians throughout Illinois are reporting a significant increase in the number of people testing positively for Respiratory Syncytial Virus, according to WSIL TV.

1. RSV is a highly contagious respiratory virus that primarily affects small children.

2. Illinois has seen a 25 percent increase in the number of cases in the last three months.

3. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show the number of cases throughout several Midwestern states sky-rocketing in the last several months.
