The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety, a nonprofit promoting safer clinical practices, named Rachelle Rotunda digital community manager.

Here are six notes:

1. Ms. Rotunda will head the company's digital awareness effort by driving engagement and increasing web traffic.

2. PPAHS is focused on three improvement areas regarding patient safety and health outcomes.

3. Alarm management is one such area, in which PPAHS wants to eliminate alarm fatigue that occurs when clinicians become desensitized to the sound.

4. Venous thromboembolism is another area in which PPAHS wants to spread awareness of risk factors associated with blood clots.

5. Opioid safety is the last area. PPAHS wants to help spread awareness of the dangers of excessive opioid use which could result in respiratory depression.

6. PPAHS has helped create the PCA Safety Checklist, OB VTE Safety Recommendations and Stroke VTE Safety Recommendations.

"The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety is making a difference in improving healthcare and patient safety," said Ms. Rotunda, "And I am proud to have a central role in helping to improve PPAHS' presence in the digital community and ensure our health and safety messages are heard."
