Patient Safety Tool: Safety Program Participation and Implementation Toolkits

The American Medical Association offers free toolkits for physicians' participation and implementation of its Making Strides in Safety program.

The program aimed to educate physicians on how to improve patient safety in hospitals, and it supported the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's 100,000 Lives Campaign, which promoted the use of evidence-based medicine to improve quality. Although the programs have ended, the toolkits remain valuable resources for healthcare providers aiming to improve patient safety and quality.

The participation toolkit describes how physicians can participate in the program and offers a checklist to help involve their hospital in the Making Strides in Safety initiative. The implementation toolkit includes checklists to guide physicians in implementing one or more of the IHI campaign's six interventions.
