A new virus test called ViroCap can spot all known viruses in humans, according to UPI.
Here are six key facts:
1. Washington University in St. Louis researchers developed the virus test.
2. The test can detect variations of common viruses that might slip past doctors' evaluations.
3. During a study, the traditional polymerase chain reaction test found viruses in 10 of 14 patients, while the ViroCap found viruses in all 14 patients.
4. Researchers concluded the ViroCap demonstrated a 52 percent improvement over the PCR tests.
5. The researchers hope this test will benefit patients with complicated conditions.
6. The test is not available to the public, as it must undergo clinical trials first.
