No new cases in Bronx Legionnaires' outbreak — Health officials declare it's over

The Legionnaires' outbreak in the Bronx, which started in early July, is over, according to The New York Times.

Here are four observations:

1. The last new case was reported Aug. 3.

2. Health officials said the source of the outbreak was linked to a contaminated cooling tower on the Opera House Hotel.

3. This outbreak killed 12 people and infected 120 others.

4. Many residents in the South Bronx already experienced asthma and other respiratory illnesses, making them vulnerable to Legionnaires' infection.
