National Time Out Day: 5 facts about AmSurg's new program

AmSurg has launched a best practice training module under its Innovator program umbrella to support their belief that quality and patient safety is preeminent.

Here are five facts about the program:

1. The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses claims the program increases awareness concerning safe practices leading to the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing surgery and other invasive procedures.

2. AmSurg has supported National Time Out day since 2004 illustrating their commitment to best practices.

3. The national observance allows surgical nurses to speak up concerning safe practices in the operating team because poor communicative practices need to be amended to improve safety.

4. Kathy Wilson, vice president, quality, claims National Time Out Day is a crucial indicator of the importance of the process to ensure the correct planned procedure is performed.

5. AmSurg, in lieu of National Time Out Day, advocates all of its centers communicate their facility's commitment to patient safety and the ways AORN tools commemorated the event.
