Medical College of Wisconsin receives $20M grant — 5 things to know

The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee was awarded a five-year grant totaling $20 million from the National Institutes of Health, according to Pulse.

Here are five things to know:

1. The grant will be used to translate research discoveries into the medical care that patients receive.

2.  The grant funds the research of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeastern Wisconsin.

3. The Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeastern Wisconsin is affiliated with Concordia University in Mequon, Wis.

4. The funding will be used to devise new technologies, such as a new DNA test for organ transplant rejection.

5. Additionally, the money will fund more than 15 research projects focused on veterans, develop a radio program explaining the institute's work and form the Clinical Research Database Warehouse that will include more than 1.3 million patients.
