Dr. Sanjay Saint receives Distinguished Scientist Award from APIC — 5 notes

The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology granted Sanjay Saint, MD, MPH, the Distinguished Scientist Award. The award was presented at APIC's 42nd Annual Conference on June 27.

Here are five notes:

1. The recipient of the award is an APIC member who has made an important and sustained contribution to infection prevention science and embodies scholarly excellence. The recipient also exemplifies infection prevention leadership within the scientific community.

2. Dr. Saint presently serves on the leadership team of a federally-funded program aimed to minimize urinary tract infections across the United States.

3. He also is the director of the VA/University of Michigan Safety Enhancement Program, the George Dock Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan and the chief of medicine at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System in Michigan.

4. Dr. Saint additionally has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, with 95 of those papers appearing in the New England Journal of Medicine.

5. He has active research studies ongoing with investigators in Switzerland, Japan, Italy, Thailand and Australia.
