Journal of Practice Management published a study finding 96 percent of patient complaints cited customer service issues rather than quality of care.
In the study, researchers analyzed almost 35,000 online reviews of physicians.
Here are four notes:
1. Nearly 4 percent of online reviews cited dissatisfaction with their physical examination, diagnosis, treatment, surgery or health outcome.
2. Most online complaints cited disorganization, excessive wait times and poor communication.
3. Of the analyzed reviews, 45 percent of the five-star reviews commended physicians on their bedside manner.
4. Researchers noted their findings indicate physician practices can readily adjust their practices to improve patient satisfaction.
