CDC to redouble efforts to combat C. diff

The CDC's fiscal year 2016 budget includes provisions for addressing C. difficile infections in the United States, according to an HCPlive report.

Earlier this month, the CDC reported approximately 500,000 Americans each year are infected with C. diff.

The funding in the 2016 budget would go towards working with healthcare facilities in all 50 states on both prevention and detection, according to the report. The CDC also plans to focus on improving antibiotic stewardship, outbreak surveillance and antibiotic resistance prevention.
