The costs of catheter-associated urinary tract infections can set healthcare facilities back several thousand dollars.
Here are four statistics on costs to facilities when a patient undergoes a procedure to treat CAUTI, according to a survey conducted by Dowling & Dennis Public Relations, with support from Poiesis Medical (the maker of the Duette urinary drainage system).
The survey includes responses from 161 clinicians across the United States. More than three-quarters of respondents were infection preventionists.
Less than $1,000 — 15.29 percent
$1,000 to $3,000 — 35.03 percent
$3,000 to $5,000 — 31.21 percent
Greater than $5,000 — 18.47 percent
