ASC infection prevention for soft surface fabrics: Establishing a new standard of care

Soft surface fabrics play a crucial role in infection prevention and patient safety for healthcare providers.

International Infection Prevention Week is coming up and healthcare providers are gearing up to learn about the most effective ways to prevent infections at their facilities. Soft fabrics in the healthcare setting — such as privacy curtains, scrubs, uniforms and bed linens — are contaminated with pathogenic bacteria. But, an upcoming webinar featuring Peg Luebbert, MS, MT (ASCP), CIC, CHSP, Founder of Healthcare Inventions, LLC, and Creator of IP-Bootcamp, will address these issues.

In this forward-thinking presentation, Ms. Luebbert will discuss the clinical evidence proving that bacteria exists on these soft service fabrics and it can survive for days. She'll discuss steps healthcare providers can take to address soft surfaces and establish the same standard of care currently used for hard surfaces — including written policies for attire and other soft surfaces.

She'll also address adopting available technology to aid these efforts, such as antimicrobial fabrics.

Webinar attendees will learn:

•         The clinical evidence supporting adoption of a new standard of care for soft surface fabrics

•         What research still needs to be done — and best practices for conducting that research

•         What we can do today to incorporate soft surfaces into our infection prevention and patient safety protocols

•         How one facility made the case for addressing soft surface fabrics

•         The business case for antimicrobial fabrics and the difference in antimicrobial fabric technologies

The webinar will be held Oct. 14 at 1:15 p.m.-2:15 p.m. CST. To learn more and register for this informative webinar, click here.
