A robot could be cleaning your medical facility

A new agreement between Tu-D SmartUVC and HealthTrust will work to allow the former's 'automated disinfection robot' to be purchased and used by hospitals in the HealthTrust members, which include acute, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, alternate care facilities and more.

The Tru-D Smart UVC is being advertised as a "germ-eliminating UV disinfection robot" that uses technology that measures UVC dose and calculates the current amount of time needed to deliver the proper dose of UV light from one place in the room. According to a press release, hundreds of healthcare environments are disinfecting their offices with Tru-D.

"Hospitals are increasingly recognizing the need for an advanced and integrated approach to improving patient outcomes on several levels," said Chuck Dunn, president and CEO of Tru-D Smart UVC LLC. "… By integrating advanced technology that has been proven as a solution time and time again, hospitals are not only saving money, but they are also protecting patients and staff from acquiring potentially deadly illnesses."

According to a press release, the robot is capable of completely disinfecting a room without requiring additional hospital resources, and compared to pulsed xenon methods, is six times more effective at eliminating C. diff, seven times more effective at eliminating VRE and twice as effective at eliminating methicillin-resistant MRSA.
